UTILITY WORK REQUIRES TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURES IN LITTLE ROCK
PULASKI COUNTY (8-31) – Utility location work requires intermittent temporary lane closures in Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will begin utility location work Tuesday, September 4 for the State Highway 10 (Cantrell Road) widening project that is currently in the design phase. Drivers can expect shoulder closures along Cantrell Road, River Mountain Road, Rodney Parham Road, and Southridge Drive in the coming weeks. Lane closures on Cantrell Road and other roadways in the project area will be limited to occur between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The work will not be continuous, but rather intermittent as needed to aid in the design of the project.
The utility locating will consist of excavating small holes to determine the accurate location of existing underground utility lines. The utility line locations and elevations will be accurately surveyed and mapped for use in the final design of the project. Expected completion of the utility location work is late March 2019.
The project, Job 061331, is the first Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) contract for the Department. In this project delivery method, the CMGC is hired during the pre-construction/design phase to aid the Department in constructability review, risk mitigation, and cost and schedule optimization.
Traffic will be controlled with signage and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
