GOOD ROADS ARE SAFE ROADS
Last week the Arkansas Good Roads Foundation launched the new bicycle safety effort Good Roads are Safe Roads. The goal of this year-long campaign is to raise awareness of roadway laws for cyclists and motorists across the state, educating the public in order to change behaviors and ensure safer roads for everyone.
You’ve no doubt seen the sharp rise in bicycle activity and felt its effects over the last few years, especially during the ongoing pandemic. Friends, family, and constituents have likely shared their views with you – and now, we’d like to hear your thoughts. From the impact on traffic flow and accident numbers to usage of trails and parks and everything in between, hearing directly from community leaders is an important element in the success of our campaign.
Please let us know what is going on in your area – send us an email at goodsroadsaresaferoads@gmail.com and share the concerns or issues you’d like to see addressed. We also want to learn about any programs or initiatives that your community has enacted that have shown positive change in how bikes, cars, and pedestrians co-exist.

- Please check out our new website at www.goodroadssaferoads.org
- We also invite you to view our campaign kickoff event. This livestream stakeholder meeting was held on August 11th where a panel of community leaders shared their thoughts on the upsurge in cycling, recent laws designed to improve safety for cyclists and motorists alike, and the potential economic growth for well-integrated biking communities. www.goodroadssaferoads.org/livestream
The development of biking infrastructure – both on and off road – strengthens the local economy and general well-being of a community in any region of the state. As we grow this campaign, we would like to share tools with you to help expand the cycling culture in your community, as well as increase an awareness of bike safety laws that we are encouraging for every Arkansan. We sincerely look forward to your input and helping you to integrate cycling and all its benefits safely in your area.
